DIRECTORS
Our directors give us motivation and direction in our singing, as well
as teaching and enforcing good singing methods. We are very fortunate to have
three very talented men at the helm of our chorus.
 Director - Jayson Ryner:
Jayson Ryner is director of Choral Activites at North Iowa Area Community College in
Mason City, IA.
He holds BA and MM degrees from the University of Northern Iowa
where he studied conducting with Dr. Bruce Chamberlain.
At NIACC, Jayson directs the NIACC Concert Choir, the NIACC Singers, as well as an auditioned Community Ensemble,
the North Iowa Choral Society. Also, he teaches Applied Voice and Exploring Music.
Prior to his tenure at NIACC, Jayson taught 7-12 vocal music for seven years in the South Winneshiek and
Rudd, Rockford, Marble Rock Community School Districts. He is a certified music category judge and an accomplished arranger
of many barbershop pieces.
Jayson, his wife Sarah, and their son Jordan reside in Nora Springs, IA.
 Assistant Director - Todd Lien: Todd is a 25 year barbershopper.
He is a partner in Lien Brothers Construction. Todd resides
in Rockford with his wife Janette. He has two children, Nathan and Megan.
 Assistant Director - Paul Krull:
Paul Krull has been a River City Chorus member since 1987. His barbershop
background includes terms as Membership V.P, Music V.P. and Bulletin
Editor. He sang baritone in the registered quartet, River City Limits,
which disbanded in 1994. He is currently the baritone for the CSD 3rd place quartet, Journeymen.
Paul's wife Cynthia and children Kayla, John and Tara are earnest chapter
supporters, though they sometimes wish dad was home more! Paul owns and
operates an insurance and investment business in Northwood, Iowa.
SECTION LEADERS
Section leaders are responsible for maintaining the sound and accuracy of
each individual part of the chorus. They conduct sectional rehearsals,
listen intently during practice for issues to work on, and advise the
directors and Music Committee on things to work on. The section leaders are appointed by the Music Committee and the VP of Music and Performance.

BOARD MEMBERS
Board members conduct the day-to-day business of the chorus which spans
every aspect of the chorus. They handle the budget, planning, and
administration of the chorus. Board members serve a one-year term and
may be re-elected at the end of that term.

MUSIC COMMITTEE
Music Committee is a group of chorus members who are attuned to the musical
needs of the chorus. These men meet and plan the songs that are sung, the
choreography, props, and set, and plan rehearsals to be the most effective
and productive for all members. The Committee is chosen each year by the VP of Music and Performance.
